Our Story

At Shed Mania, we launched our business in the midst of the pandemic to address one of the biggest challenges people were facing: the lack of personal space. Even though the pandemic is behind us, we continue to evolve, providing our customers with special personal spaces for work, workouts, hobbies, music, study, and play. Our backyard sheds offer a dedicated environment that promotes focus and success for those who use them.

Hi, I’m John Kim, co-founder of Shed Mania, which was established in 2020. The idea for the business came to life after I built a she-shed for my wife during the pandemic.

Our house isn’t very big, and with a 7-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son at that time, my wife needed a quiet space to work and attend Zoom meetings during the shelter-in-place order. She loved having that private area, and I thought, “I bet a lot of people could use this kind of space!” And that’s when Shed Mania was born—we haven’t looked back since.

At Shed Mania, we pride ourselves with great quality product, customer service, expectations and communications to make the process enjoyable. You’ll love your extra space and use it for work, exercise, or a play area.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Shed Mania did a 18 x 12 shed for us in our backyard. The final product is amazing - great design, workmanship and quality. The crew and project manager were very wonderful to deal with. Incredibly kind and clean. They did very good work. There were a few small hiccups along the way, as there always is with construction, but we worked everything out and are very happy with the finished product.

Shed Mania handled everything from getting architectural drawings and engineering and handled the permit process with San Jose. I highly recommend them.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a fantastic experience with Shed Mania. I was looking for an office shed to put into our backyard in WC. John, Song, and Son were all super helpful throughout the process. They constantly provided updates from the permit process to each stage of the build. The workers were also very respectful of the space.

I believe we got a 120 sq ft shed, with direct electrical and WiFi. I take meetings and play video games in this space super easily, and it feels so spacious. We also just had our first big rain out here and there have been no issues. I highly recommend Shed Mania!

We now have an extra room that we use as an office and it fits into our backyard perfectly. Great communication throughout and extremely professional. Highly recommend working with this team!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Shedmania team was a pleasure to work with, from the initial conversations and estimates with John, to discussions with Song during construction. Throughout the process, they were consistently quick with communication and backed up it up by delivering on time and budget. The only hitch was a small broken drainage pipe, which they immediately fixed for us, no questions asked. Overall, excellent experience and I'm very happy with the final product.

The process with John, Song, and Son was seamless, easy, and just an all around fantastic experience. The team accommodated changes we had and worked around our schedule. On top of all of that, we LOVE our sheds. Highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I researched high and wide before settling on Shed Mania and am super glad I did. A lot of the other providers were inflexible with what they build so it wouldn't match our main house, or couldn't accommodate a hill, and were also often more expensive. John and Song know what they are doing and are extremely service-oriented. Their crew is really competent and detail oriented. Unlike other providers, Shed Mania builds everything from scratch so you can essentially customize everything, from the dimensions to the windows / doors, to any add-ons such as solar + battery, deck, steps, all of which we ended up choosing, and all of which were very well built and fairly priced. I had a friend who went with a general contractor who was not specialized in sheds and his first winter resulted in lots of leaks from the rain. Do yourself a favor and hire John & Song who have so much experience and can accommodate almost anything you ask for. You'll get a product that is not only quality and delivered on time but a pleasant experience through it all.
